This region is situated in the northern part of Shirak region. From the north Ashotsk borders on Georgia. The territory is 547 square km., the major part of them is on 2000 height above sea level.

There are 25 agricultural communities in this region.

Economy of region:

In this area basically agriculture is developed such as animal breeding and bee keeping. Grain and eating cultures are growing here. Food industry mainly specialized on production of meat products.

Export evaluation:

There are great reserves for extension of meat and milk. Taking into account favorable climate conditions and alpine meadows of region, it is economically effective to extend the assortment of cheese.
